Hydraulic facilities

Hydraulic facilitiesHydraulic facilities

Dams, water reservoirs, sewage tanks, spillways, ports, quaysides, docks, water breakers, etc.

Hydraulic facilities, especially those contacting with sea water, are subject to a combination of high operational loads and various aggressive factors. Sea water, corrosive chemical substances, plunging wave, currents or streams impact, abrasive action of sand and gravel, cavitation attack, damping – drying cycles, considerable temperature variations are just a few factors that can be mentioned in this respect.

Taking these peculiarities into account, VSM has been tested to have the following effect on the properties of concrete:

  • significantly increased chemical stability;
  • increased resistance to cavitation erosion;
  • increased water impermeability;
  • increased freeze-thaw stability;
  • decreased shrinkage of concrete;
  • shrinkage cracking is eliminated;
  • increased durability;
  • increased compression strength and tensile strength;
  • significantly increased impact strength;
  • increased resistance to corrosion;
  • increased labour efficiency;
  • improved workability.

Economic efficiency:

  • enhanced surface quality, reduced number of defects;
  • less frequent repair works required;
  • significantly increased durability;
  • possible cement saving;
  • a substitution for more expensive additives.

Fiber length and optimal dosage for a certain type of concrete and its application can be defined individually through comparative testing.
