Efficiency of VSM application in dry pack mortars depends first of all on the type and intended purpose of the mix and sphere of application. Besides, the type of binding agent (cement or gypsum) and fractional composition of aggregates are also of much importance. Positive effect of VSM is most visible in plastering and repair works, as well as in self-levelling floors.

  • increased compression and tensile strength imply a possibility to eliminate the need for wire mesh;
  • significantly increased impact resistance, what is important for preventing corners and edges from chipping-off;

  • improved freeze-thaw resistance and water tightness (most important for outdoor works);
  • smaller rebound when “spayed plaster” technology is applied.

Recommendations for application of VSM:

Recommended fiber length: 6 and 12 mm. Fiber length depends on the thickness of concrete lining and fractional content.

Content of VSM in the mixture depends on the type of concrete and its application.

Fiber length and optimal dosage for a certain type of concrete and its application can be defined individually through comparative testing.
